An urban living concept of Live, Work and Play within a self sufficient urban enclave , where green is not an add-on catch-phrase but an avant-garde lifestyle.
What we build today is to help the environment of our future. Towards that purpose we are building a green world as an oasis within our urban environment, hence the Green Sanctuary.
In attaining that goal the building is envisioned as a garden receptacle where the garden overwhelms the building and the functional spaces are but incursions into the garden. The building is an expression of modern architecture with straight lines and planes. The lines and planes are articulated as concrete fins that frames and accentuates the building.
The garden begins at the ground level where the Sanctuary beckons the public with a lifestyle rest and recreation floor with a plaza garden and al-fresco. The al-fresco pavilions are designed as green capsules over-run with climbers and green, giving the impression of sitting under the shade of willow trees. Ponds complete the garden atmosphere.
The circulation spaces are accompanied by gardens from the ground floor plaza, through the building that terminates onto the podium rooftop gardens. Literally the garden follows you wherever you go.
The podium rooftop is covered in a miniature forest that is bordered with retail area. The podium rooftop forest becomes a refreshing setting for al-fresco dining or enjoying the cafe culture.
There is a symbiotic balance between the green gardens that drape the building in a green cloak and the clean clinical lines of the building. The green cloak gives a new architectural expression of organic aesthetics that provides a thrilling environment for an exciting living, working and playing experience.
The different disparate design programs required deft handling to create a harmoniuous whole. In doing so, the element of garden and outdoor spaces were utilised to hold the composition together. The gardens not only provides the connectivity between the spaces but add to the ambiance of the space. When playing with gardens and out door spaces, the concept of sustainable architecture naturally came to mind and was incorporated into the design. Concepts are not cost free and balancing the costs of practical sustainable architecture with building costs required many hard decisions. Some battles were lost and some were won. The idea to extend the gardens vertically and weave it within the building was culled but large plazas and boulevards as an extension of the internal spaces remained part of the podium design.
